Hi, my name is Monica. I am originally from Oregon but after my high school graduation I went to Idaho on a full ride scholarship to Boise Bible College where I studied Intercultural Studies. I am now pursuing my Nursing degree so that one day I may become a medical missionary. My husband and I just moved to New Mexico to slow down and work hard toward our future. I decided to become a caregiver because my grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's a few years back but with much help from caregivers he was able to live out his last years in his home with my grandmother at his side. I have worked with geriatric, bariatric, dementia, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's patients. I have mostly worked in rehab and long term facilities but doing so has taught me many skills. Hi my name is Alisha Garcia, I am 23 years old and I am currently pursuing my bachelors degree in nursing. I have always enjoyed caring for others and have wanted to become a nurse for as along as I can remember. I am very patient, compassionate, and empathetic. I will always do my very best to make sure your loved one receives the care that they deserve. I have worked in an assisted living home and have been a home health aide, so I have experience working with many different conditions. I have my nursing assistant license, and I am also CPR certified.

My first experience as a caregiver came just after high school when I was hired as a nurse aide at the Med Unit at El Castillo Retirement Community in Santa Fe, NM, where I cared for the elderly that were needing more than normal care. I did this for the Summer before college. It gave me a sense of pride in caring for these vulnerable seniors. I did everything required of me from diaper changes, to tube feedings, grooming, changing clothes, toileting, companionship, blood pressure readings, etc. Years later, I helped with the caregiving for my grandma of 96-years. I helped take her to the hairdresser every Friday, did the shopping and helped her bathe, and comb. I helped her brush her dentures. I eventually helped her to transfer her to the commode and back to her chair, and back to her recliner. I was mainly there from about 4:30 pm until about 8:30am once a week. She was an amazing person, right up to the end. My next caregiving task was brief, but very enlightening. I would become a companion for an aunt who developed dementia/Alzheimer's and progressed rather rapidly and although an effort was made to have her at home, she too, became a resident at Sierra Vista for memory care. I attended an Alzheimer's class (an overview) at that time. Witnessing her progression was very hard, but also experiential. About 3 years ago, I attended an Alzheimer Caregiver course (lengthy, about 6-8 sessions if I remember correctly). This was due to my Dad having dementia that was progressing. His progression has been somewhat slow, and he is mostly being helped (meals, hygiene, companionship, etc.) by other family members. I find fulfilment in caregiving. I am touched by the person(s) I care for, and I hope also to touch theirs also!

Very patient, understanding to the persons needs . Able to help and teach them to do alit first themselves also. To sit and talk and get trust and understanding. Being able to have or become a friend and for the client to know I can help them and be there for them. What I know in myself that God has blessed me to have a heart and humbleness to care for people of need and understanding

I have been a caregiver for year's. It is one of the most rewarding jobs I have had along with working as a floral designer for a non profit org. Called flowers for life. I would take flowers 2 elderly in nursing homes that didn't have anyone that came 2 see them. My last caretaking job was for Martha and Red fisher. Martha had terminal cancer, and Red had Alzheimer's. I was with them for a year before Martha passed and Red moved out of state 2 live with his son. I still write him once a week. Hopefully its a good day that he remembers me!

It feels highly rewarding knowing you're changing the life of those in need of assistance. My passion for this started after the passing of my dad, I wished I could've done more to help him in the stages he needed to gain in-dependability to get better. Later my grandpa was admitted into hospice care and I had the chance to care for him everyday. After, it sparked the idea to get back to school and follow a path I was really passionate about. I began to go to school for nursing assistance. I then accepted a training position where I had 100+ hours of training. Caring for the elderly gives you a lot of great perspective. While working with this demographic, you begin to really value your time with them. The mutual respect that you can develop with the aging population is truly special.

I am a retired Registered Nurse of 35+ years. I want to help other people to improve their lives. I am passionate about my profession and willing to give my best to my clients. I have extensive Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Orthopedic, Respiratory, Mother-Baby, Nursery, Pediatric, and Home Health as a Director, Supervisor, and Field Case Manager experience. The past 10 years I have been in the Home Health setting. I have extensive Intravenous, various central line, and certified wound care-wound vac experience.
