Experience caregiver having over 10 years working with various clients. I guess you could say my life could be encapsulated in four simple words faith, family, friends, and helping others! I have worked in Home Health both in nursing homes as well as memory care facilities for over 10 years. I love helping people, I also feel that in some ways this is my ministry even though it is my part-time job. I have experience in memory care, ADL's, transfer assist, gait training, lighthouse keeping, meal prep, companionship, and bathing and grooming, I have dependable transportation and arrive to work on time and don't miss days unless I am ill. I am normally very healthy, and I insist on cleanliness and am constantly washing my hands. I would like to think I am extremely cautious in keeping both myself safe as well as you. I've had extensive training in HIPAA and sanitation. After retiring from Health and Human Services caregiving became my passion. I'm a very conscientious and hard worker and yet I still remain cheerful throughout the day. I also am a Certified Activities Director so I feel like I bring a little more than just caregiving. I believe that seniors need daily activities to stay happy and healthy and if possible to be a part of their day-to-day activities and have a purpose. If the senior is capable and able to water plants or assist with meal prep I encourage that. I am a very outgoing and caring person, i will always put others needs above my own and i believe that is the biggest trait that helps me be an amazing caregiver. Helping others is my passion and i feel that for me, you must establish an amazing connection to the people you are caring for, you must treat them as a human and not just a job. Treat others how you wish to be treated is something i have always lived by. I absolutely love having a connection with my patients and doing what i can to make them comfortable and happy.

I genuinely love being able to take care of people and especially the elderly. I have always been very passionate about being there for the elderly and taking care of them as if they're my own grandparents. I have overcome a lot of fear I had with being around new people and new surroundings, and working with the elderly has taught me a lot of life skills, and most importantly being patient. Care giving has been a part of me for a very long time, from bringing crackers and 7up to my brother when he was sick, caring for my grandparents while in the nursing home. I was raised around some amazing women who have shown me that no matter what in any situation I will always be there for someone in need. Have seen the good and bad in working and visiting facilities. When someone is working just for a paycheck that person is most certainly in the wrong career for healthcare. Yes a paycheck is good there is too much compassion in me to be that way, I get way to attached to my people cannot help that. Our elders deserve to be treated with the upmost respect. I have sat with a client at an assisted living facility for 13 hours, working a double 2pm to 6 am the next morning, 13 of the 16 was talking, singing just being there for that resident made care giving that much more special. What I enjoy the most bringing smiles to each and every person I meet, young or old. If I only see one smile than I know have done a good days work. The most personal achievement I am proud of are my children, without then life would not exist they are my heartbeat and if anything were to happen to either of my children I would lose my absolute mind. I am now becoming an independent contractor with my own business Soul Sisters Hometown Care. I will be mainly private care have wanted to start this for quite some time now so better time as any.
