I will proudly say that I'm a patient gentleman and Patience is a great way to derive success in many aspects of life. Having in mind that caregiving can be challenging sometimes, I derived success in caregiving by exercising patients and kindness towards my clients. I started caregiving by taking care of my own mother, when I saw how happy she feels by having me around, I felt blessed doing it and when she passed, I extended the same compassion to others. I really enjoy it when I notice that I have made a positive impact on the life of my client; I can remember being called God sent by the wife of one of my clients; the gentleman returned home after spending months at the hospital and rehab, he lost his ability to walk and speak. after I was called in as a caregiver, he regained his mobility and speech because we had to engage with him not just as a client but as a loved one...

I'm an upbeat, fit, optimistic, trustworthy, honest, punctual, hardworking, enthusiastic and caring individual that loves making a positive difference in individuals lives. I'm a humanitarian at heart so I was destined to do this type of work or something similar. I enjoy the satisfaction from knowing I'm truly helping someone in need. I opened an online store several years ago not knowing if it would do well or fail. It's been 5 years and it's still going well. So I'm extremely proud of that accomplishment.

I have over 10 years experience as a caregiver. I have worked for home health care agencies as well as private clients. I have also worked as a live in care giver. In my career as a caregiver, I have worked with clients with various conditions including dementia, Alzheimer's, stroke, diabetes, cancer treatment, hospice. I enjoy working as a caregiver because it is a rewarding job. I get satisfaction in knowing that I was able to be of help to my clients in their time of need. It gives me joy hearing my clients appreciate the help am able to offer. I am very observant and pay attention to detail, because of that, I am able to offer recommendations to my clients and aides that will make their everyday living easier. I am kind, patient and I take care of my clients as I would my own family or as I would love someone else to take care of my family. Most of the families I have worked with over the years are now part of my family.

Some residents at the Assisted Living Community call me Christmas, saying it's close to Carol , my nickname. They said it fits my personality. Willing to give love (as the song goes... on Christmas Day!), happy, funny, full of joy! I have been taking care of my Father who suffered from stroke for 10 years back in the Philippines, being one of his caregivers. I was also his Physical Therapist. We moved here in the US 5 years ago, and I have worked as a caregiver , then transitioned to work in the Med Room as a Medication Technician at Maple Glen Assisted Living in Shelton, WA. I consider it a calling given the opportunity to work there. I am a people person and loves taking care of elderly. I treat them as family and I enjoy listening to their stories, and attending to their needs. Having a Physical Therapy background, and with experience in home health, clinical, and hospital settings, I could offer different types of assistance based on the needs. I consider my time at Maple Glen as one of my career achievements. I love all of the residents and I became The Employee of the Month in less than a year. Being a caregiver is a calling for me. I am proud to be one and I enjoy doing it! It is not an easy job but coming from a Filipino family surrounded by big hearted love ones, I carry it wherever I go, and I live up to the values my parents had taught me, which I am passing on to my daughter and son.

I am very compassionate about this kind of work. I have 2 1/2 years of experience with working in a nursing home, assisted living home, and as a home care provider. My mother has been a caregiver for 20 years and so I guess it's in our genes to want to help people! I have a huge heart and I care about helping folks who need a little extra help or even just companionship. I enjoy building relationships with each of my clients. I think the most important part of this job is to listen and to be their support system and provide the best companionship as possible.
