I started caregiving for elderly and disabled in high school for family friends for several families . I later was a pharmacy technician for many years and worked as a care taker for several of my customers. I was chosen because I was reliable, patient and treated them like they were my family.

When I was applying for different kind of jobs (manufacturing, warehouse) where I had more than 15 years experience, I was offer a position as caregiver of a lovely 90 years old lady, we got along since the first moment and became her part time cg. I found out that I have that special touch so much needed when working with elderly. I treat them with respect. I know it must not be easy losing your independence and if at home, seeing "strangers" coming into your house and practically take control over your stuf. That's why I like asking them (when posible) how they like things being done in their house.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I love to help people and socialize with everyone I've helped my grandmother for a while she currently has arthritis also other conditions and it's hard for her to do things that's where I step in and help her I think this helps me become a better person i'm able to care for other people the way I care for my grandmother

I've been taking care of my grandma for about 10 years already, I have so much patience for her. I make sure she always feels comfortable for herself, I help her get around the house. Bathe her, clothe her, clean her nails & other feminine ways. I also help her after she uses the restroom, make sure she takes her medication on time. And always make sure she's stays hydrated. Makes me proud I'm able to help my grandmother, also gives me more satisfaction she feels safe with me.

My grandmother had suffer a fracture to her femur. So for two years I had to care for my grandmother and help her adjust to her new lifestyle using a walker. I grew close to my grandmother at her times of depression and vunerbility. I loved that I was making a difference to her happiness.
