Home health to me is so much more than just a job. Its the ability to help people, lighten their families stress, new friendships, and to bring a little joy to them. I got started helping my G. Aunt, who was a home nurse, when I was younger with our own family ailments. My uncle an Gma both had a long fight with cancer; My father had multiple sclerosis; my mom a diabetic/work aholic with heart issues; and I also learned all about dementia an Alzheimer's first hand from caring for my G. Gma. Understanding what the patient is actually going through is essential, but Understanding the hardships the family goes through caring for a loved one is a important key in there loved ones care. Number one rule an my most important one is I always care for a client as if I were caring for my own family. I treat clients and patients as I wish to be treated, honesty, patience, and respect. After graduating high school I worked for hospice care for 2 years before taking a much needed break, (it hurt to much when it was there time to move on). Almost 6 years ago I went back to the same company but chose home health care instead . I worked with them 3 years as a special attendant. The rules became a headache to keep up with their contestant changing so I decided to go elsewhere. My current employer I have been with for almost 3 years. I am a hard worker and I learn fast. I have experience with most medical equipment including: hoyer lift -auto/manual, catheters/cholostomy bags, blood pressure cuffs/pulse ox/thermometers, oxygen machine and portable oxygen bottles, walkers and wheelchairs/electric scooters , bed alarms and hospital beds, etc. I do document visits with clients so families will be able to refer to book for any questions or concerns they may have about any shift, past or current.

I've always felt that being a Care Giver was the most awarding job I've ever had or will have. It's personal and that's what drew me in the field. I am the type of person that gets joy from helping others especially those who cannot help themselves. I am personally happy of having the gift of serving others and I'm very proud of that. Hello my name is Alexis I became a CNA in 2014 in Ohio where my mothers family resides. I then moved back home where my family lives which is in Montana and I started working as a certified nursing assistant about four hours away in Minot North Dakota there I helped an RN who owned her own home healthcare company and was responsible for up to 6 to 8 patients daily by myself providing all cares and taking care of the cooking the feeding and transportations . I then came to Austin Texas and became a field specialist for BrightStar Care which just means I went to multiple different patients homes I did trainings with other aids and skills as well as just saw multiple different clients in 2018 they decided to bring me into the office that is where I became a senior lead client care manager over the course of four years . I have Attended CHCP and there I received my medical coding and billing certification and last month I graduated with my associates degree in medical health and administrative sciences. I am currently in my bachelor's program and I'm wanting to get back to caregiving to remember why we do what we do when I graduate with my bachelors and start working in a position where hopefully one day I hope to make real change to our healthcare system.

I grew up in a culture in which family members give much importance to not only taking care of each other when young but also when they become old. Since I was young I wanted to be either a doctor or a teacher and for sure I've followed by calling. I just feel good when I help people (young or older) and I love taking care of my husband and daughter. I have a BA in English, some nursing studies and translating and interpreting in different settings (medical, education, social work). I have worked in nursing homes, hospital, assisted living facilities and schools. I've given care to patients, taken blood pressure, bathed, fed, changed diapers, cleaned colostomy stoma, ulcers, changed feeding tubes... I've been in the field of education since 2006 and a Bilingual Special Education Teacher Assistant for the past 10 years. Because of my job and my past experiences dealing with people, I have developed a special attention to details and ability to solve problems. I consider myself an energetic, confident, patient, observant, empathetic, compassionate, dependable, trustworthy, competent, honest attentive, and resourceful person of sound judgement.
