I started caregiving within my family when I was young teenager. Since I started caregiving I always felt good and honest about helping others who need it. I've been caregiving for 5 years and every time I walk into someone's home that feeling of being really eager to lend a helping hand never fades and the feeling of leaving someone's home after being caring and supportive and gentle makes me feel like a very accomplished person.

When my grandmother was around, I helped her get around, (she had arthritis) helped her sort out her medications, and assisted her. My grandfather has Parkinson's, and at times didn't remember things very clearly. He had brain surgery a couple years back and I took care of him for a couple weeks while he recovered. I spent my college years researching interventions to reduce family and caregiver stress levels through Thai Chi, Aromatherapy, Nature Image Viewing, etc. I am attracted to being a caregiver because I understand how hard it is and want to give you a break!
