Hello everyone my name is Keila and I've been doing caregiving for many years. I have my CNA as well but It all started when my grandpa got sick and could no longer care for himself. He had a feeding tube so I would have to puree his food as well as crush his medication and put it through the tube. I would do bed exercises with him and bed bathe him. I am a very honest, caring and hardworking woman and I enjoy helping/caring for others.

I am a caring and compassionate person who is detail oriented. I have a strong work ethic and 25 plus years experience in caregiving mainly with the IDD community in a group home setting. I sold my home recently and fulfilled my dream of moving south! I have 2 fully grown Daughters and 5 grandchildren. Having over 11+ yrs of experience of being a professional Personal Care Aide, in home & live in facilities , as well, I've worked with dementia patients as well as others who just needed a caring hand, and I'm a VERY compassionate person who is responsible and reliable. Hi, Im Zakyah peferably "Kyah" and i have been doing caregiving since 2020. I find myself very caring, patient, and flexible, i have alot of compassion for helping others and definitely my elders, I am very big on trustworthiness due to me having great grandparents in their 80's who i also take care of when i can but as to me working i have to have a caregiver for them during the week , so i feel as if me knowing what i would want for the best care for them , showed me everything plus more of what i needed to do myself to be the best caregiver i could possibly be. Being with my great grandparents and being their caregiver and seeing how great i did with helping them inspired me to go into this feild and start helping others also, i enjoy caregiving alot. The thing i enjoy most about caregiving would have to be my confidence i always see the good in someone's condition or their abilities, i would also have to say being able to give back and help my elders , elders do alot throughout their lifetimes weather its helping others or just their daily lives during their early life, so i feel as if giving them the care they deserve is very necessary.

First and foremost, I am the mother of a one year old daughter. I love cooking, doing hair, and playing trivia games. I've been helping elderly people since I was 12. My grandmother inspired me, as I would go with her to a few houses around the neighborhood and help out the older people in our community. I then ended up taking care of my grandmother. The thing I enjoy the most is them knowing someone cares. I enjoy listening to them and assisting whenever I can. I've learned so much working with different people. What I'm most proud of is I learned how to be better day by day. Communication skills are way better because I learned how to actually listen.

1. Honestly, I became a caregiver not realizing the extent of care that was needed in the field. I observed my mother providing care for my father before he passed, and it was hard for me to see him passing away. Since I have become a caregiver, I understand the quality of care that is needed in order to help rehabilitate those who are dependent upon someone they can trust. 2. In this field,I have learned a lot about myself as a person. I never expected to become educated on the subject of self. I have learned that you should not take life for granted, disabled does not mean that a person is not human and that they want to be treated special because of their disability, how the small things in life mean so much to a person when they are unable to provide for themselves such as: a warm hello, brushing their hair, putting fresh flowers in a vase on the dresser or kitchen table. 3. A personal achievement that makes me proud is that, over the years, I can greet most family members that I have provided care for, and they smile and welcome me with memories of how I touched their lives as a caregiver for their loved ones, or those that I have provided care for to rehabilitate them during their short recovery. 4. What is calming to the mind as a caregiver is, going home that day knowing that you have made a difference in someone else's life. Working as a caregiver has been apart of me since 2014. I get the job done, do a great job at what I do and don't mind getting the job done. I became a caregiver because I took care of my great grandmother until she passes at the age of 94 years old. Right then I knew that this was my field. I took in my grandmother in which she is 75 years old and still living with me to help better my career. I like the fact that not only your love ones but those people depend on you as well as I make them happy. A personal achievement that I am proud of is finishing Registered Medical Assisting school now in school for RN as well as investing in a home care agency.
