My name is Bernice . I am a caregiver by choice . I have been in the medical field for 30 years . In 1995 I I became a CNA and worked in every area possible allowing me to acquire skills and knowledge to broaden my career. First and foremost-it is in my nature to help people in any possible way shape or form that I am able. I have a heart especially for those that are in greater need. I started caregiving for elderly and disabled in high school for family friends for several families . I later was a pharmacy technician for many years and worked as a care taker for several of my customers. I was chosen because I was reliable, patient and treated them like they were my family.

I bacame a caregiver because I like to help people and also to meet new people. You learn something new everyday. I like that you get to spend one on one time with a person and to get to know them more. I enjoy what I do, I am also cpr/first aid certified and recently bcame a DSP. I was recently working for a chiropractor part time and am also working on my Nutrition and Wellness Degree. Back in 2012 I graduated from UEI College as a Medical Assistant. I am familiar with many medications from dealing with many home care jobs over the years. I even was hired to work at a Senior facility (Monte Vista). Realizing my calling was in in-home services. I chose not to accept the position. I have done several years of private in-home care. Caregiving is my passion it all started when I was a kid all in just wanting to fix my grandfather who had dementia and PTS . I looked after him until I finished school . As so my mom took over and I went to Cali to take on my dream full time .. I have worked with asl patients , Quadriplegic , dementia, Alzheimer's, mental health as well as kids . I started off with independent care and later moving on to facilities as well as obtaining my med tech . Later on had to go back to take care of my grandfather and mom who recently passed away now I take care of my mom and moved her out to live with me in Escondido . Now I really would like to get back to independent care one on one. I love getting to know my client and all of there values in life it will forever be my passion. Last COVID test 6/15/24

Patients, Empathy, Compassion, Respect, Loyalty, Dependability, Trustworthiness, Body Language always pay attention when talking to residents, observant, Caring. I always wanted to be a caregiver/ nurse, because i always love to help people in any type way, mentally physically, emotionally, and spiritually, also i use to take care of my little twin cousin who was born with cerebral palsy and brain damage for 8 years.

I am proud to say that being a caregiver, i became a very very understanding person dealing with clients. I developed a close bond to my clients, spending time with them listening to their stories. I give them respect and dignity. To be able to bring some sunshine and smiles and laughter to my clients is already a big achievement to me. I worked with clients with dementia, COPD. My job includes help with medication, bathing/grooming, meal preparation, light housekeeping, run errands. I am registered with HomeCare Aide of California, CPR registered and a CNA.
