I started being a caregiver when I was 19 years old my grandmother had a stroke and I took care of her. I have a daughter that needed a liver transplant at 5 month old. Unfortunately she got cancer at three years old from the inner rejection medicine . My husband got cancer about 12 years agoI taking care of him. Worked in a memory care facility. I have my food handling card CPR card and first aide. I'm certified in dementia and Alzheimer's .

I have always loved caring for others, even as a child. I started working in a Adult Care home in my late 20s and found my passion! I have owned 2 assisted living homes and a Senior Daycare. I have tried other occupations and have always come back to caregiving. I also work with Alzheimers and dementia patients. I am very loving, kind, and patient. When I was 27 years old my husband got a brain tumor & he became paralyzed with in 3 years. He was a smart Engineer and lost all independence. He went thru Chemo & Radiation & lost his eyesight. Helping him & my 3 kids under the age of 6 still staying loving &positive was my main goal. I tried helping them all each & every day become the best , happiest & most thankful people God created them to be. He lived 3 years & my kids are all now loving respectful adults with wonderful lives. I couldn't ask for anything more. I'd have to say this was my biggest accomplishment.

I started with the State of California taking certification classes to help someone needing double hip replacements and couldn't walk and was recovering from breast cancer. Today, she is a walking survivor! Next I joined Phoenix Health Care and took classes on immobile patients such as transferring and changing bedding. I was sent to several different situations including a hospice patient. My last position was with an elderly woman in her home that had several serious issues, one of which was COPD. It became a joyful experience when, after working with her diet and routines, that she actually became symptom free and actually wanted to participate in activities again. Caregiving became a lifestyle for me and I was honored to be able to help in any way that was needed because I could.

My name is Amanda I am 19 years old. I enjoy being a CNA because no matter the person and situation they have a story. I enjoy getting to know my residents one on one in order to create the best experience for us both. I chose to go into home care so I could spend time with the individual person and not be rushing between rooms. I look at my residents as though they are family. I have experience working with the elderly and those with developmental disabilities. I have just recently graduated an 80-hour Certified Nurse Aide program here in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I have completed clinicals and am looking for an entry level position that will allow me to excel within the company. I am scheduled to take my state licensing test on December 13, 2019.
