I am a mature woman with over 25 years caring for people of all ages and walks of life. I have bachelor degrees in Family Life and Human Development and in Nursing. I was a registered nurse for 25 years. I have extensive experience in home care, and especially enjoy home care because it gives me a chance to work in an environment in which people are the most comfortable. I enjoy becoming a part of each client's life and in meeting family members and friends. I have found I have a knack for building rapport with clients. I believe in treating each client in a holistic manner, and in communicating with him/her as a person, not as the condition for which he/she is receiving services. Hello, I'm Tamika I live in Hoyt, Kansas. I've been a Certified Nursing Assistant since 2014 in the state of Kansas. Previously, I was a Certified Nursing Assistant/Medication Aide in Nebraska started in 2011, before becoming certified in Kansas. I really enjoy working with patients/clients who need assistance with activities of daily living, whether its getting up and ready for the day, medication reminders, ambulation assistance, meal preparation, or just compainonship. I became a Certified Nursing Assistant because I enjoy making someones day bright by just a simple smile. I'm a single mom of a 4 year old boy. I work August through May as a Special Education Para with visually impaired children, for local school district.

I believe that I am a good care giver because I am so easy to get along with and I just everyone. I decided to go in the direction of health care because I feel that it is almost second nature to me to help out where and when I can with being a mother of 4 kids. This asks what attracted me to the healthcare provision and to be honest in the very beginning it actually just kinda fell right in my lap. My husband because disabled and I was a stay at home mom with no schooling or work underneath me and it was time I had to help support my family. It was just the right timing that Kne-cap was running a program where they was helping people go through school to get them somewhere. I decided that was my opportunity and to grab it while it was available. I am proud of myself because I got both my CNA and HHA with the help and got a job and stuck with the first one and just loved my client. From there I decided to take it even farther and get my associates degree in Business Health while working full-time and being a mom of 4 small kids. I have no work history for this under my belt at this giving time.

I feel as if I am a great comforter, I have good communication skills, I have had a year of experience as a caregiver and all the resident's I have taken care of along the way have made me more experienced and confident about what I do for them, When I was about 13, I had an elderly neighbor/friend that would come over every day for coffee and to talk with the family, well, he started getting older and weaker and I just always wished I could help him but never knew how until I get a wonderful opportunity in High school for CNA class and I loved it so much that I have never thought about having a different job since. What makes it really worth it is knowing that these people I am taking care of, have families whom I am making very happy along with the residents, I love their personalities and different routines, and becoming friends at the end of the day, and last but not least,I am proud of how many "Thank You's" I hear throughout the day because I honestly do my best to make everyone happy, I am happy that I have become skilled in so many ways of being a CNA.
