I became a caregiver 20 yrs ago. Initially, it was a job through my parish. I found it to be so rewarding, and so self gratifying, that I decided to obtain a CNA, PCA certificate. Since then, I have worked in many cases throughout the years, and have been so blessed having dealt, and cared for such wonderful people. I am educated and professional, and experienced in all aspects of personal, and homecare management. My most personal achievement, would have to be, being a mother of my two beautiful children...nothing compares! I am a God loving person, with a kind, compassionate, and joyful spirit.

I have lived with and cared for my grandmother (88 years old as of today), since age 14. She had Polio as a child and has always been handicapped. She is able to care for herself somewhat, however I prepare her meals, take her to appointments, and keep her company. I stepped up at a young age when my grandfather passed away in 1997. I have always had compassion for others, and being able to help others gives me true joy. I worked outside the home as well as caring for her since the beginning. She is able to maintain during the day as long as I have everything prepared and her medication sorted and administered. I cook and clean well, and don't mind doing so. It is very important to me to establish a relationship with my client. I want my client to feel comfortable and safe as for many having someone come into their home this is new for them. I am very proactive in doing everything I can in getting my client to be as independent as possible. I cared for my mother-in-law for 5 years after she got a stroke and also cared for my own mother for 6 years after she was diagnosed with cancer. I developed much compassion for the sick and elderly. Not only did I do the daily chores expected of me, I took the time to sit and listen to what they had to say. They shared their stories that family members don't have time to hear. People need companionship, they need to remember who they were and who they are now and that they are still as important as they were back then. Two things I am most proud of is helping my mother-in-law walk on her own two feet again, and becoming best friends with my mom the last six years of her life At this time of my life, I have much to offer those who need help. I had a client with dementia who turned out to be the most kindest, loving person I have ever known, even if others didn't think so. We became best friends. He knew that when it seemed the world was not safe for him, he knew he was safe with me.

I became a caregiver at a young age, at 15 I began sitting with a lady while her husband would go out of town. And ever since then care giving has been a passion of mine. I love the stories they tell of their lives. I love being able to care for them and show them love. One of my biggest accomplishments is when I found myself taking care of a lady who seemed to hate everyone around her and didn't want me there to help her. So as I'd go in each morning it was a struggle, But I was determined that it was her illness that caused her to be this way and eventually she came to love me and my company.
