My name is Jeannie Smith I am 35 years old. I have worked in the medical field for 11 years. In those 11 years I have obtained a CNA, CMA, a current CPR and first aid. I have completed all except for 12 weeks of my practical nursing I attended college at Kaplan University in Omaha,NE. I have worked in places such as: nursing homes, assisted living, specialty units (dementia, brain damage), nursing agencies, in home care (private pay), multiple hospitals. I have worked with patients/residents with a variety of aliments such as: dementia, Alzheimer's, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, cancer, paralysis/prosthesis. I feel God places you in different situations and that he's put me in specific situations to make me a better person. I feel that these situations have made me a better CNA such as my brother suffering a coma due to being hit by a drunk driver and my other brother suffering major brain damage and bed ridden due to a massive heart attack/stroke. I know God has placed me here to care for others. And I do that through being a CNA. I love what I do with a passion.

The last 3 1/2 years I have been taking care of four patients. Bob 94 with Alzheimer's needed comfort care, meals and toileting. At the same time Thelma 87 dementia patient recovering from a fall, comfort comfort, meals, managing home, meds, Dr appointments, bathing, dressing, cleaning, and shopping. When she passed I worked for her husband Ken 91. He had mobility problems, dementia. We spent 6 days a week together, many trips to the cemetery to see Thelma. I helped with showering, toileting, shopping, Dr appointments, manage meds. All aspects of running his home, garden, and chickens. I shopped, cooked 3 meals a day. Cleaned, ordered supplies for his care, sewed, and took him for hair cuts and lunch often. He became family to me. Lastly Eunice 88 slight dementia. I prepared meals, light cleaning, shopping, Dr appointments, manage meds, and helped with her sister who had mobility problems when she would come for extended visits. I have my Lifescan (background fingerprint) done, DMV printout, TB tested, CPR & First Aid Certified. I have been involved in Home Health Care for over 8 years. I am now available to begin a new journey with your loved one. I am patient compationate and understand how to love and care for the needs of others. My comments from my previous employers have always been excellent and I have a great relationship with the patients and those who hire me. I have brought patients their favorite meal when they haven't been able to get out for months. Samples of wood carvings for a hospice patient who use to be able to carve wood. Read their favorite books. Bring movies. I want them to know that they can be happy and have memories while they are sick and unable to do for themselves. Basic food preparation, grocery shopping and it s important to ensure the client is receiving the proper nutrition. Medication reminders assure that medications are taken at the correct time as directed by the doctor and light housekeeping.
