I enjoy all aspects of senior care and believe my years of experience, empathy and nurturing heart has been beneficial in this line of work. Specialized in Dementia/Alzheimer care, worked with Recovering Stroke, Diabetic, bedridden and amputee patients. I not only treat and care for patients physical restraints, I believe in compassion, companionship and giving patients sense of comfort and meaning in their lives.

Ran a DHS Licensed facility for handicapped males for 12 years then worked on my own for a while. Currently working for Visiting Nurse / Hospice Care, have done over 40 hospices to the end. Registered with the State of California Caregiver registry and passed their background check. I am an exceptionally good caregiver. Kind and gentle and knowledgeable about most common issues. I can bathe, manage diets, manage meds, cook, clean. Know how to prevent bedsores and have done a lot of wound care. I have had training in speech therapy, physical therapy, range of motion exercises, stroke recovery, surgery recovery and 1 coma client and can follow discharge care plans. I have worked with many mentally impaired and dementia clients. Good sense of humor, on the quiet side but can chat about most things. Love music and singing. Try to keep things fun and happy by joking around and reminiscing. I am good with males but great with females. Most love being sung to and cooked for and enjoy a little pampering.

since a young girl, it was my passion to care for people, whether that be adults, children, pets, ect. I started a PCA job after High School for mentally and physically handicapped adults. It was the only job I truly had passion for, and at the end of the day I believe I got more from them then they ever did me. The most enjoyable part is being surrounded by individuals who just shine with warmth, empathy, compassion, understanding, ect. My proudest personal acheivment was YEARS after I had moved onto another job, I was out with my co workers explaining how I never have loved a job as much as I had that one. I very vaguly described a special bond a client and I had and all the fun things we would do. All off a sudden, a supervisor from another department who had been sitting some feet away from us...stood up and asked if i was talking about "Said Name" , I was taken back but told her yes. After she told me he had passed away, she came up to me with eyes overflowing with tears about how touched she felt by hearing me speak of her uncle with such love and serenity. Two days later she brought me something from her car, a big, white, shadow box of all his favorite posessions (his beloved rosary, favorite teddy bear, empty bottle of Mt Dew (his fav soda) some things he colored, and a few photographers of him) I immidiatly recognized everything in that box, and at that point we both burst into tears and hugged. She told me.... "It's people like you who ,we are truly grateful for, that get to care for our most loved ones. She could tell the people who were just there for a job, and people like me that treated each and every individual as if they were my own brother, son, parent, or grandparent. To this day this story still holds my heart, and it still makes me cry. Sometimes when I didn't think I was good enough for the job, I remind myself what these beautiful souls bring to me. No doubt about it, it is God's work.....

What makes me a great Caregiver is that I'm passionate it about it, love caring for others. What attracted me to being a Caregiver is the day my grandfather past away. I knew I could give better care then what he was receiving. Being known from company I've worked for is what I'm proud of. I am a great caregiver because I care a great deal about my clients and that's because of my personal view of it, my mother became very sick a few years ago and needed home care, I quit my secretary job to take care of her, she was always independent and found it hard to let someone take care of her, because she always did the taking care of, so I made her a deal, she let me take care of all her needs and she could tell me just how and in what order she would like me to do, she agreed to this deal, and never felt useless and was happy about how and when she wanted things done, my mother had several medical conditions, diabetes, hypertension, dementia, over weight, and I was able to control all of her conditions at home, by keeping logs of medicines, names of medicines, times of day of medicines, and by having a happy and contributing mom by allowing her to participate and have some control in her care, my most achievements that I am proud of are my techniques I use with dementia clients to get them to remember things, and my safe diets in losing weight, my mother was 350 pounds when I started taking care of her a few years ago, and in a year she was down to 170 pounds.

I became a caregiver originally by caring for my grandfather who had dementia and was blind. I so enjoyed the time I got to spend with him. When he passed I decided to quit my medical job and continue caring for the elderly. I have so much respect for elders. They have been thru and seen so much in life, I have the utmost respect f ok r my elders. It is an extremely rewarding duty to be able to provide care and friendship to someone in need.
