Hello my name is Resse. I would like to share a little bit about me. I have 20+ years experience in home health care, hospice, special needs, and CPR/first-aide certified. I have been blessed enough to work with all types of families and ailments from bed stricken to special needs and is very passionate about all that I do and always willing to go the extra mile. I worked in the Newport news public school division with special needs children for over 15years and I have a business license in cleaning. I've always been described by my clients as, "heaven sent us an angel". I also took care of my mother until she passed. She had seizures, kidney failure and was on dialysis, also bed stricken. I prepare meals, great companion and love children. I am no stranger to hard work and I genuinely love people, tremendous experience in dementia, alzheimers, and medication management as well. I'm a caregiver and healer by nature! I love to bake, read, take walks/hike, and play games. I'm a habitual student--I love to learn! My medical background gives me an excellent knowledge base (medical assistant & occupational therapy assistant), but my experience and genuine compassion are my biggest assets. I have worked with a wide variety of ages with an equally wide variety of physical/social/mental health needs, including special needs children as a school health aid, OTA at a skilled nursing/long term acute care hospital, medical assistant, co-led a divorce care group at my church, internship at Arapaho Co. Mental Health, and provided my grandmother (advanced Alzheimer's Disease & stroke) with a loving and caring home for 5 years. I have also been by my mom's side during her breast cancer treatment (never missed a chemo!). Please note that my services do not include occupational therapy treatment/services, but having this education and experience is immensely helpful in helping your loved one stay safe while in my care. I understand how difficult finding a reliable, competent, and compassionate caregiver can be, and I know the struggles and stresses of caring for a family member! But the reward of knowing that I made an impact in someone's life is my greatest reward. I am a 52 year old woman, married 34 years. A non smoker, lover of animals, living many places both here and abroad through my experience with the Army. My husband is a 26 year Army Retired Veteran. I became a caregiver when I was 12 years old. My best friend was diagnosed with MS and MD at a very young age and she happened to be 64 years old at that time. We bonded immediately and talked daily. One day we were attending our weekly meeting at our place of worship and her usual caregiver could not be found. She needed help going to the restroom, I volunteered to help and I did everyday until her death at the age of 69 on January 31, 2013. I am blessed to have had the greatest connection and friendship that guides me in everything I do. She was a supernatural, phenomenal woman . She taught me how to smile, be kind and to love unconditionally. She is the reason my kindness never fails or crumbles. I am proud that over the years I have made many more friends and have learned such valuable lessons by just listening and observing my elders.
