Hello. I'm Lisa. I've been working as an in home care giver for 10 years. I love working with people and seeing the smiles on their faces when I'm there to help. I first started doing home care through Home Choice Senior Care, which then became Brightstar, in Iowa. After that I went self employed. I have pretty much done everything that could be needed for clients. Cleaning, meal prep, transfers, bathing, bed baths, dressing, feeding, medication reminders, errands or transporting to appointments, even just sitting and visiting or playing card games. Whatever the client needed or wanted. I was trained in CPR through BrightStarCare. They also trained us on various other needs for the elderly.

My reason is , I love taking care of the elderly & they need someone who will be gentel with them. Over the years of being a cosmetologist, I have client's that are elderly and even though they don't ask, I help them with more than just hair. If they ever needed a ride I was willing to take them where they wanted to go, if they needed food, I'm willing to give them food that I can spare. I would sit there and listen to their stories and comfort them and give the jokes. Being a single mom to my awesome straight A student is one of my greatest achievements.

I have always enjoyed taking care of others. Watching my Dad suffer from Dementia for 10 years, built my desire in assisting others to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. I became a caregiver in 2011 to take care of my father in law until he passed away in 2013. I found this profession to be very rewarding and chose to pursue it. Building relationships with our elders, listening to their life experiences, helping with their daily activities brings me much joy. The personal achievement that I am most proud of I think would have to be my compassion and desire to help others as well as going back to school to obtain my NAC. My husband and I have been married for 34 years and have lived in Arlington for the past 24 years. We have a 28 year old daughter. A year ago we gained full custody of a 5 year old. I have spent the last year at home, devoting my time to him. He is now secure, doing well in school, it's time for me to get back out into the work force.
